This gentle flavored rice goes well with vegetable korma or dhal. Hardly any preparation is needed. Well, do you want to give it a try? Here we go...

Long grain/Basmati rice – 1 teacup (200ml)
Water – 1½ teacup
Oil/ghee – 1 tablespoon
Cumin seeds/jeera – 1 teaspoon
Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
Salt – ¾-1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Coriander/cilantro leaves – 1 teaspoon chopped (optional)

Quick Cumin Rice
Method: Wash long grain rice 2-3 times in water and drain fully. Keep aside. Heat ghee in the pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and when they crackle add the rice. Reduce the flame and sauté for a minute. Now add 1½ teacup of water, required salt and cumin powder. Mix well, cover the lid and cook on medium flame for 5 whistles. Then switch off the fire, and once the pressure subsides, open the lid. Mix the rice gently with a fork. Garnish with cilantro leaves. Your quick cumin rice is ready!
